Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme
(from 1 May 2002)


The Compensation Agency operates the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme.

Under this scheme you may be entitled to claim:

bullet Compensation for a personal injury whether mental or physical
   
bullet Compensation if your parent, child, husband, wife, or partner has died as a result of a criminal injury
   
bullet Compensation for loss of earnings or earning capacity as a result of a criminal injury

The Compensation Agency recently introduced a new Tariff Scheme for the payment of compensation in cases of criminal injury, where the injury was sustained on or after 1 May 2002 in Northern Ireland.
