Criminal Injuries Before May 2002
The Criminal Injuries 1988 order expired on 30th April 2002, with the onset of the Criminal Injuries Scheme 2002.
If you were criminally injured during the 1988 Order by way of a violent offence or abuse while still a minor, you may still be entitled to claim if you are under 21 years of age.
If you are now over 21 years of age and wish to lodge a claims for sexual abuse, the 2002 Tariff Scheme allows for claims for sexual abuse to be considered where they would have been governed by previous legislation. For further information, please read Criminal Injuries from May 2002
To notify the Agency that you intend to apply under the 1988 Order, you need to complete a Notice of Intention (PI1) form. Once the PI1 is received, the Agency shall review and if the incident is within the remit of the order, we will forward the application form (PI2) for completion.
